Man vs. Wild

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

I’m so stoked that Man vs Wild is back! If you’re not watching this show you’re looser. OK, that may be too strong, but you really should check it out. I’m don’t think I’ll ever be in a position where I need to rip the intestines from a dead camel so I can sleep in the carcase for the night, but it sure is cool to watch someone else do it.

Jerry Seinfeld on Larry King Live

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

I don’t know why this is so funny to me. I’ve noticed for years that Larry King doesn’t seem to know much about his guests… especially those in pop culture. Someone finally called him on it and it happened to be one of my favorite comedians. Take a look:

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

I love this game!

I got a Wii several months ago based on the reviews I had read for Zelda. However, something about that game just didn’t click with me the way I had hoped. I enjoy it, and one day I’ll finish it, but I found that I wasn’t enjoying my Wii as much as I thought I would and that trudging through Zelda was probably the cause of that. So I set out to find a game that didn’t require as much work and would give me some quick satisfaction as I blew up a bunch of stuff. Enter Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, the continuation of one of my favorite games of all time. Did I mention that I love this game?

I enjoy the balance of shoot ‘em up first-person action and problem solving that Corruption offers. I dare say that it may be one of the best games that I’ve ever played.

The Company

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

A quick plug for The Company, a mini-series produced by TNT that I just finished watching. If you like a good drama, a little mystery, and stories that are based in fact you might enjoy this (fictitious) look into the CIA. It doesn’t try to compete with shoot-’em-up shows like 24, but rather, keeps a steady pace of character development. What more could you ask for? Chris O’Donnell, Michael Keaton, Alfred Molina, spy gadgets, Cold War espionage, etc….

Oh ya, there is one thing I could ask for… more episodes. The entire series is only six hours long.

If you missed it, don’t worry, I’m sure TNT will air it again, and again, and again.

Busy Summer

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Well I’m almost out of SPF 50 sunblock which means that we’ve been having a fun summer. If you think I’m joking about SPF 50, then you haven’t seen my beautiful white sheen; I have to stay looking young you know? (and prevent third degree burns).

Emily finally got around to putting up pictures from our Santa Barbara trip on her blog.

I’ve been busy with work lately as we’re preparing to release some code that I’ve been working on for the past four to six months.

We’ve been going to the pool almost every chance we get.

I’ve even made it to the theaters to see Transformers and The Bourne Ultimatum.

Consequently I’ve had almost no time to work on any personal projects, but… who cares when you’re having fun?

New Portable DVD Player

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

Don’t expect me to start reviewing products, but I think it’s only fair that when I find something I like that I give it a quick nod. We recently picked up a new Toshiba 9″ Portable DVD Player (model SD-P1900) from Best Buy for use on our Santa Barbara vacation. So far I quite enjoy it. When I was comparison shopping, I felt that the color representation and picture quality seemed superior to other models I saw that advertised higher resolution. I could best describe the picture quality on other models as “muddy” whereas this one was smooth and clear.

Indiana Jones Production Diary

The Man With The Hat is Back

I almost wet myself when I saw some of the first behind-the-scenes footage of the new Indiana flick. I can’t believe we’re getting another Indiana Jones film. I can remember skipping school to see Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Hopefully there will be more of the video diaries like this one highlighting the first day of shooting:
